From idea to success – a holistic approach for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The YMCYC Design System is a holistic ecosystem that seamlessly combines design, technology and strategy. The project started as a vision to translate my passion for cycling into an interactive and inspiring product. But the core lies in the versatility and customisability of this system, which helps small businesses to optimise their processes and present their brand professionally.
Brand design: To make the brand clear, easy to realise and emotionally appealing, I developed a simple corporate design system, supplemented by mood photography and motion visuals. This foundation creates the basis for all further communication measures.
Product design: The heart of the project is an analogue, interactive product: a bucket list poster with legendary cycling climbs that users can personalise with special stickers. This innovation combines design and functionality and transforms the poster into a tangible experience of user success.
Data solutions: To create consistent data for the prints and digital content, I worked with ChatGPT to program a simple Python script that automatically extracts and visualises elevation profiles from digital route files.
Shopify setup and custom programming: I developed a user-friendly and responsive Shopify shop from the ground up, perfectly aligned with the brand and providing a seamless user experience. Shop link: shop.ymcyc.com
WordPress development: As a digital extension to the analogue products, I built landing pages with additions such as Strava segments and Komoot routes, which both offer additional benefits for customers and serve as SEO-optimised landing pages to increase traffic to the store. Digital advertising: I set up the Meta advertising ecosystem, from the development of dynamic motion ads to precise targeting and A/B testing. This data-driven strategy maximised the reach and conversion rate of the campaigns.
Integrated accounting: To simplify processes and keep an eye on costs, I set up real-time synchronisation with LexwareOffice, which manages finances and taxes seamlessly.
The result: The YMCYC Design System is not just a system for cycling enthusiasts, but an example of how even a small company can optimise processes and present itself professionally.
